Investor Update Board — 3-Lens Investor Email Review

Review a monthly investor update email before sending: flags vague claims, buried bad news and fuzzy asks with a three-reviewer board verdict. Reviews a recurring post-funding investor or board update email through three independent lenses: Vagueness Auditor (claims with no number or comparison baseline), Bad-News Radar (churn, burn or runway buried, or a missed target spun) and Ask Sharpener (intro, hire or feedback asks an investor could not act on in under a minute). Phase 2 has the reviewers cross-examine each other, and Phase 3 tags each finding CONFIRMED, CORROBORATED or DISPUTED and ends with a send recommendation. It does not review pitch decks or fundraising narratives for investors you have not closed, does not invent metrics or prior commitments, and does not rewrite the email. Text you paste is sent as-is to the model, so redact real financials and names first.

Subject: Northwind Pantry - September update

Hi all,

September was a strong month for us. Growth has been great and we're seeing really strong traction with small grocers. We signed a few new partners and revenue is up nicely. The team is energized and we shipped the new ordering dashboard.

On the finance side, we're in a good place and continue to be disciplined with spend. A couple of customers paused orders this month, but we expect them back soon. We hired two engineers, so headcount is now 11.

Last quarter we said we'd hit $60k MRR by end of Q3. We're making great progress toward our goals.

Asks: We'd love intros to anyone who might be helpful with grocery distribution. Also let us know if you can help with hiring a head of sales. Any feedback welcome!

Thanks,
Dana (CEO, example.com/northwind)

Example output

## Phase 1 — Independent findings
### 🔍 Vagueness Auditor
- No number behind the headline claims: "September was a strong month," "Growth has been great," "really strong traction with small grocers," "revenue is up nicely." None has a figure or a comparison baseline. Investors will ask "compared to what?" Fix: state September MRR, the August figure, and the percent change.
- "We signed a few new partners" — how many, and who (anonymized if needed)? Fix: give the count and contract size.
- "We're making great progress toward our goals." The only stated target is "$60k MRR by end of Q3," and the draft never reports the current MRR against it. Fix: write "MRR is $X vs. the $60k target."
- "Disciplined with spend" and "a good place" on finance have no burn or runway figure.

### 🚨 Bad-News Radar
- Churn is buried: "A couple of customers paused orders this month, but we expect them back soon." The count, the revenue affected, and the basis for "back soon" are all missing, and it is mentioned in passing mid-paragraph after positive framing.
- The missed commitment is not acknowledged: "Last quarter we said we'd hit $60k MRR by end of Q3. We're making great progress toward our goals." Quarter-end has passed, and the draft neither says whether the target was hit nor gives the number. This reads as spin around a probable miss.
- Runway and burn are omitted entirely, while headcount rose ("hired two engineers, so headcount is now 11"). Added payroll with no runway update is a missing warning.
- No metric is shown going the wrong direction anywhere in the update.

### 🎯 Ask Sharpener
- Intro ask has no target: "intros to anyone who might be helpful with grocery distribution." No named company type, geography, or role. An investor cannot forward this without a clarifying question.
- Hiring ask is loose: "let us know if you can help with hiring a head of sales." No profile (stage, industry, comp range), no location, no timeline.
- "Any feedback welcome!" is not an ask; no topic and no deadline.
- No urgency on any ask. Fix: name the target, the one-line pitch for the introducee, and a date.

## Phase 2 — Cross-examination
- [Vagueness #1 no numbers on traction] challenged by Ask Sharpener: "Not a risk through my lens." / corroborated by Bad-News Radar: "The missing MRR number is exactly where a miss against $60k could be hiding."
- [Vagueness #3 progress vs. goal] challenged by none: "The $60k target appears but no actual is given anywhere else." / corroborated by Bad-News Radar: "Same sentence as my missed-commitment finding."
