Job Application Board — 3-Lens Resume & Cover Letter Review
Review a resume and cover letter against a job posting for ATS keyword misses, generic recruiter appeal and weak interview hooks before you submit. Runs a three-phase board review. Phase 1: three independent lenses (ATS Parser Realist, Recruiter Skeptic, Interview Predictor) each flag issues blind, quoting the actual resume or cover letter text and stating the concrete consequence. Phase 2: each lens challenges and corroborates the other two lenses' findings. Phase 3: one verdict tags every finding CONFIRMED, CORROBORATED or DISPUTED (nothing is dropped silently) and ends with a single Submit recommendation. It is deliberately not encouraging and never invents experience or requirements. If no job posting is given, ATS findings are best-effort against a generic posting and it asks for the real one. It treats contact details as context and does not echo them; the pasted text is sent to the model as-is, so redact what you do not want shared.
Example input
Use the Job Application Board on this (a sample I wrote). Please review my resume and cover letter against the posting before I submit. POSTING (Data Analyst, Example Retail Co.): Requires SQL, Tableau, A/B testing, stakeholder reporting, 2+ years experience. Nice to have: Python, dbt. RESUME (Sam Rivera, sam@example.com): Summary: Results-driven professional with a passion for data. Experience: - Business Associate, Sample Goods Ltd, 2022-2024: Responsible for weekly reports. Worked with the sales team on dashboards in Power BI. Helped improve the checkout process. - Intern, Demo Logistics, 2021: Cleaned spreadsheets and queried a database with SELECT statements. Skills: Excel, Power BI, communication, teamwork, data analysis. Gap: 2024 to present (no explanation). COVER LETTER: "Dear Hiring Manager, I am writing to apply for the position advertised. I am a hard worker and fast learner who would be a great fit for your company. I look forward to hearing from you."
Example output
## Phase 1 — Independent findings
### 🤖 ATS Parser Realist
- A1. Posting keywords "SQL", "Tableau", "A/B testing", "stakeholder reporting" are not on the resume. The closest are "queried a database with SELECT statements" (no "SQL") and "Power BI" (not Tableau). A search for the posting's top 5 keywords surfaces this resume on none of them. Fix: write "SQL" and, if true, any Tableau or A/B testing exposure in Skills and bullets.
- A2. Skills section lists soft skills ("communication, teamwork") which carry no search value; Python and dbt (nice-to-have) are absent. Fix: replace with tools actually used.
- A3. "Business Associate" is a vague title for a data role and the 2024-present gap has no entry, so the parser sees a timeline break. Fix: add a dated line for the gap.
### 🧑💼 Recruiter Skeptic
- R1. Summary "Results-driven professional with a passion for data" is a template line and shows no results. Fix: replace with one concrete, number-backed sentence.
- R2. Bullets list duties: "Responsible for weekly reports", "Helped improve the checkout process" — no outcome, no number. Fix: quantify (time saved, conversion change).
- R3. Cover letter is generic: "the position advertised", "your company". It never names Example Retail Co. or the role, so it could go anywhere. Fix: name the company and tie one experience to the posting.
- R4. The 2024-to-present gap is unexplained. Fix: one line (study, freelance, caregiving, etc.), whatever is true.
### 🎯 Interview Predictor
- I1. "Helped improve the checkout process" invites the obvious question "improve how, by how much?" and nothing on the page supplies the answer. Fix: add the metric and your specific part.
- I2. "Hard worker and fast learner" is an unevidenced claim with no story behind it. Fix: replace with one example of learning a tool quickly.
- I3. No answer to "why this role, why this company" anywhere. Fix: add two sentences in the letter.
- I4. The Power BI dashboards for the sales team are a good interview hook but have no outcome attached. Fix: state what decision the dashboard changed.
## Phase 2 — Cross-examination
- [ATS #1 missing SQL/Tableau/A-B testing] challenged by Recruiter Skeptic: "SELECT statements imply SQL to a human reader, so a human would likely connect it." / corroborated by Interview Predictor: "Yes — the posting's core skills have no story, so there would be nothing to ask about."
- [ATS #2 soft-skill list] challenged by Interview Predictor: "Low value, but not harmful." / corroborated by Recruiter Skeptic: "Filler skills add to the generic feel."
